SAI International School Radio Station, ‘RADIO ORANGE-99.9’ covering the school campus is the first School radio broadcasting system in the state of Orissa. It is a virtual radio station, with its studio located in Tansen Gallery, the music lab of SAI. The radio station is operated by the students with faculty supervision.

Edunet System
The teacher can teach lessons through the Edunet System, a kit which consists of a hardware card. Audio and video broadcasts can be made through headphones from the teacher machine to all the other machines.

   2. The system allows observing of any student monitor on the teacher machine screen.
   3. Student has exclusive ‘Help Key’ to alert the teacher.

School Description

DAV Public School, Chandrasekharpur was established on 4th August 1989 at Sailashree Vihar, a residential township in the northern part of Bhubaneswar, the State Capital of Orissa. It is well connected by Road, Rail and Air.

The dream to build a school for providing quality education in Orissa was seen by Engineer Birendra Chandra Patnaik, the Present Chairman, School Managing Committee. It has got the shape of reality within a span of 18 years due to the untiring labor and dedication of Dr. Keshaba Chandra Satapathy, the Principal of the school.

House System:
The students of Std. V to XII are divided into 4 houses Apalla , Gargi, Maitreyi and Sikata after the names of women sages .The nominated leaders from all Houses of Std. VII, VIII , IX and XI form the school cabinet which takes oath in the investiture Ceremony organized in the beginning of the session. The school cabinet comprises of : school leader, asst. school leader, house leader, asst. house leader and house representatives . The nominated leaders lead the house to participate in curricular and co-curricular activities under the guidance of House Co-ordinator and house teachers.. The best house is awarded at the end of academic session. This house system enhances their competitive sprit while working in a team. 

Innovations on Teaching:  
Reading Day : 
First Thursday of every month - 12.45 to 1.30pm - all students and staff including group D participate in   silent reading.  To bring back the reading habit back which is slowly dwindling. 

Yoga : 
15 minutes of yoga every day from 1.15pm to 1.30pm to improve the concentration power. Some   pranayams for a healthy living.  

Class Room Library : 
To inculcate the habit of reading and proper utilization of leisure time.A small step motivating the students to create home library of their own.  

Class Room Assembly
An opportunities given to all the students to exhibit their talents in organizing and participating in activities   like Group discussion, dramatization, role play etc. It is mandatory for every child to participate.  

Class Magazine : 
A hand written magazine prepared by all students of the class displaying their creative talents, painting   skills etc. 

eguru : 
Latest Technology to teach in class room subject like - mathematics, science, history , geography etc.   through multimedia for a better understanding of the concepts. 

Seminar by students : 
Students of Std. XI and XII are encouraged to present lessons with power point presentation which help   them to learn in a group and also collect information beyond their text books. 

Interaction with intellectuals :  
An intellectuals like scientists, Writers , nobel laureates, Managements gurus, sports celebrities, national and international achievers, epoch making personalities are invited to interact with the students and motivate them to excel in life. The following personalities are visited our school. 

Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, Hon’ble President of India, Scientist.  
Dr. Raja Ramanna, Noble Laureate Prof. Gerard T' Hooft and the first Indian Cosmonaut Wg. Cdr. Rakesh Sharma. 

Prof. Yash Pal, former Chairman, U.G.C. Mr. Baldev Raj, Director, Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Energy , Kalapkam Ms. P. T. Usha, Mr. Dillip Tirkey, Mr. Subroto Bagchi, Chairman of Mind Tree are among them who have visited the school for the cause of education during the last three years.

Pride of DAV:  
The school has been placed in top bracket category in std.X & XII CBSE examinations and in Std.VIII DAV Common Board Examinations in the country over the years. For the Academic excellence, the school has been awarded with “PRIDE OF DAV” Laurels from DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi for last 7 years consecutively.  

OTHER ACHIEVEMENTS: 
Master Subhankar Mohapatra makes the state & school proud being the “NATIONAL TOPPER” with all time record of 98.6% in CBSE Std. X Examination’06. 

The Chess wizard, Padmini Rout of Std. X- The first girl from Orissa to bag the titles of Asian Junior Chess Champion held at Teheran, 2nd in the National Women-B championship, 4th in the World Youth Championship held at Moscow (Russia), won many National Championships in Junior Chess, first and youngest from the country to retain the Women International Mater (WIM), Gold Medal winner in Common Wealth Games in U-14 Girls category, 6th Position Holder at the World Youth Chess Championship at Turkey, Silver Medal winner in the Asian Youth Chess Championship held at Mumbai, Consecutively three times National Champion, first girl from Orissa & the country to retain the World Youth Chess Championship in Under-14 category held at Vietnam, on October 2008. Somya Shanta Nayak of Std.XII participated as the second from the state & the school in the International Astronomy Olympiad consecutively for two years held at Beijing & Mumbai respectively and bagged medals as the youngest participant of the nation after Ashutosh Sahoo of this school in 2003. This year, he has also qualified along with two others from the Nation to participate in the first international Olympiad in Astrophysics to be held at Chiang Mai, Thailand in December, where he made the country proud by bagging the Gold Medal for the country. The school has also bagged the prestigious International School Terra Quiz-2005 (Soumyashanta Nayak & Aditya Acharya), India’s first International Quiz on environment for schools. Amiya Mallick proudly holds the CBSE National Record in U-16 100mt., 200 mt. & U-14 100 mt. Race, stood First in the National School Games held at Pune, make the state proud by representing the country at the 1st South Asian Junior Athletics Championship held at Colombo, Srilanka recently . In NTSE, one fourth of the total state quota bagged every year by our students. Till now, the school has sent 50 students to different Medical colleges, more than 250 students to IIT, NIT and other leading Engineering colleges, two International Astronomy Olympians, 15 NDA students, 5 students to National School of Law, 10 students to Singapore Airlines (NTU), 5 RDC participants, 150 highflier Olympians, winners of 15 State & National Quiz, 25 Sahara Scholarship awardees and many more.

Class Rooms:
108 well – ventilated classrooms with suitable furniture, ergonomically designed for different age groups. 
Air-conditioned classrooms for the Senior Secondary Students to enable the classes to go on during the scorching summer. 

Conference Halls:
Two conference halls equipped with audio-visual facilities (LCD Projector) designed for conducting seminars, workshops & orientation programmes for the continuous development of students and teachers.

Well equipped Physics, Chemistry , Computer and Biology Laboratories.

Mathematics Laboratory:
The Mathematics Laboratory is a new concept of CBSE to make Mathematics lucid, interesting and enjoyable. 
Difficult mathematical concepts are easily cleared through demonstration by the help of different models, charts and experiments. 
We are proud to have built a sophisticated 'Ramanujan Maths Lab' in our school which was inaugurated by Mr. Ashok Ganguly, Chairman, CBSE. 

Library:
A good library adds value to the academic programme of a school. 
Our library is reached by more than 12000 books that include literature, Children's books, Encyclopaedias, Reference books and Text books. CDs and DVDs are also available for students. Newspapers, periodicals and magazines are procured regularly in English , Hindi and Oriya. 
The library remains open from 7am to 5pm on weekdays and 10am to 2pm during summer and puja vacations. 

Seminar Library:
This library provides reference materials for the students of Senior Secondary aspiring for admission into professional courses like IIT, JEE, AIEEE, AIPMT, AIIMS. It also provides information for the entrance and admission procedures to different universities for further studies in Engineering, Medical, Law, Management etc. Students can avail this special library during school hours and holidays.

Auditorium:
A well – furnished auditorium of 350 seating capacity is meant for interactive sessions. 
Dignitaries from different fields and academicians are invited to share their valuable experiences with the DAVians to broaden their intellectual horizons. 

Extra amenities under the same roof : 
Book Store:
The book store supplies books and stationery prescribed in the curriculum for all the classes as the session begins. It remains open for the students and the parents during recess and from 4.45pm to 5.30pm on week days.  

It also publishes school diary, special notebooks, practical records and question gallery.  

Bank:
Orissa Co-operative Bank (fully computerized) with ATM facility functions inside the campus to deposit fees and for all financial transaction of school. 
Parents can deposit fees in all other branches of OSCB in Bhubaneswar.  

Hostel:
Hostel facility is available for outstation boys admitted to Senior Secondary classes only. 36 boys are availing this facility at present.

Transport:
Transport service provided by school is an optional facility and is available to the students on request. A fleet of 13 vehicles ply over the city to cater to the transportation needs of the students as well as staff members. 

Play Ground:
A play ground speaks about the health of the students.  
Our play ground is 12151.32 sq. mt in area with a basket ball court .  
Cricket, football volley ball, kho kho , Hocky etc. and different atheletic events are played by students in games period.

Scholar Club:

Environment Club: 
This club creates awareness among the students to protect and preserve their environment.  
It organizes Van Mahotsav Week, Wild-Life Week, Flower Show and Cleanliness Drive to sensitize students to save Nature. Plantation programmes, debates, painting and quiz competitions are conducted to inculcate a sense of making our environment cleaner and greener. 

Quiz Club:  
This is a platform to update their general knowledge by enhancing awareness through various programmes and competitions. 
The Club prepares the members to participate in State level and National level Quiz Competitions like Terra Quiz and CBSE Heritage India Quiz. 

Music Club: 
The club trains the students to form a choir, The choir group presents patriotic and folk songs in all languages accompanied by musical instruments every Saturday in morning assembly. It also provides extra training on request after school hours.
