K. J. Somaiya Institute of Management Studies & Research (SIMSR) Started in 1981 as a part of K. J. Somaiya Trust and Somaiya Vidyavihar is located in Mumbai.Consistently ranked among the top 20 B-schools in the country, Awarded as the Best Management Institute of the Year 2008 by Bombay Management association.The Institute was inaugurated by Dr. Manmohan Singh, the present Prime Minister of India, and has since established itself among the top B-Schools in India.The Institute is nestled in a 51.4 acre campus, with all the facilities of international standard.

Mission of the institute is to impart state-of-the-art education in management and allied areas to students and working professionals, enabling them to develop into competent, socially responsible and values driven citizens committed to sustainable development.

Institute History

Somaiya Vidyavihar was established by Padmabhushan Late Shri K J Somaiya in 1959. An Entrepreneur, Philanthropist and a Visionary, he firmly believed that modern education had to have its roots in strong values. This underlying theme and legacy of Somaiya Vidyavihar was continued and strengthened by the late Dr S K Somaiya.

Somaiya Vidyavihar aims to provide for its students, meaningful and relevant education that emphasizes both the liberal and professional aspects of higher education, steeped in rich Indian Culture and heritage and rooted in universal religious philosophies of the world.

Somaiya Vidyavihar is an institution that is proud of its heritage, global in the reach of its ideas and universal in its service.

The Somaiya Vidyavihar campus comprises 34 individual institutes dedicated in the Arts, Sciences, Management, Humanities, Philosophies and Social Sciences as important areas of scholarship, and is spread across a 60 acre complex in Vidyavaihar, in north central area of Mumbai and a 90 acre complex in Sion in the heart of Mumbai. We have over 27000 students and 1700 teaching staff. Majority of our colleges are affiliated to the University of Mumbai. We also run a few autonomous post graduate course, vocational training courses and high schools within the campus as well as in rural India.

Somaiya Vidyavihar is presided over by Justice P.N. Bhagwati, former Chief Justice of India. Shri Samir Somaiya, a Cornell University and Harvard alumnus is the Vice President. Both provide invaluable direction to all the educational institutes within the campus.
