Loyola Institute of Business Administration or LIBA established in 1979 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Situated in the heart of Chennai city, within the sprawling Loyola campus, LIBA is a world in itself. Its scenic and idyllic surroundings provide an experience beyond compare. However, in contrast to its surroundings, LIBA is a volcano of activities, ideas and ambitions. State-of-the-art infrastructure facilities at LIBA render an atmosphere that is conducive for learning and development.

LIBA is a premiere Jesuit Institution with exceptional worldwide linkage, strives at the holistic formation of world class leaders with unmatched professional competence and a strong ethical perspective. LIBA endeavors to contribute to the sustained development and inclusive growth of the nation and the world at large by forming men and women imbued with a spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship. The Post Graduate Diploma in Management (full-time) is being offered since 1995. Both the part-time and the full-time PGDM programmes are approved by the AICTE and the full-time programme is recognised by the AIU as equivalent to the MBA degree of Indian Universities. LIBA also has collaborations with several Universities overseas and seeks to imbibe a global mindset in its students. There is also a strong focus on consultancy and research and LIBA encourages its faculty and students to undertake consultancy projects with corporates.

Institute History

Loyola Institute of Business Administration (LIBA) was established in 1979 with a three-year part-time PGDM programme mainly to cater to the needs of those executives in and around Chennai to impart knowledge and competence and to hone their managerial skills.

The part-time PGDM programme has been approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Responding to the acute need for world-class management professionals in the globalised economy, LIBA, since 1995, has been offering a two-year full-time PGDM programme. This programme has been approved by the AICTE and is recognised as equivalent to an MBA by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

Placement

FINAL PLACEMENT
Final Placement is organised over the span of a week. The graduate batch of 2011 has 119 students who will participate in the final placement process. The current batch is extremely diverse and boasts of profiles ranging from engineering and commerce to arts and business.

SUMMER PLACEMENT
At the end of the first year, students are required to undertake an industrial project in order to practically apply the theory they have learnt to life issues. The summer internship programme encourages students to undertake research-based projects in order to gain practical industrial experience. Summer placement is held when companies come to the LIBA campus for pre-placement talks.

PROCESS
Companies register with the institute for participation in the Placement Process by filling in the tear-away registration form provided in the brochure.

Companies are invited on campus for pre-placement talks. Pre-placement presentations are considered mandatory as they help facilitate a better understanding of the requirements of not only students but also corporates.

Summer placement is held simultaneously when companies come down to the campus for pre-placement talks.

The slotting of companies for final placement is done on the basis of the ranking made by students, which is influenced by the profiles and salaries offered by various companies.

International Collaborations

LIBA has established linkages through MoUs with renowned business schools in the United States, Europe, Australia, China and South America. Based on mutual recognition, these linkages provide excellent opportunities to the students and faculty of LIBA for study, research and other joint academic pursuits. In keeping with the spirit of globalisation, these linkages are aimed to promote international understanding and friendship. As of now, LIBA has signed MoUs with the following business schools.

A Centre of Excellence is understood to be an institutionalization of the best practices in the academic pursuit of knowledge in a given area; professional development through multi-skill acquisition; integration of knowledge and professionalism resulting in effective deployment of both to serve the changing needs of industry; and those in the promotion of ethical and social values that govern all.
