Aligarh : The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, J.N. Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University organized a symposium on " Research and Publication" under the aegis of Orthopaedic Research Foundation of Indian Orthopaedic Association. More than 100 delegates including senior faculty members and residents of different departments attended the symposium.
Prof. Mohd Zahid, Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and the Organising Chairman of the symposium welcomed the invited faculty and the delegates. He gave a brief introduction of Orthopaedic Research Foundation of IOA and emphasized on the purpose and need of organizing such symposiums.
Prof. M. Ashraf Malik, Principal and C.M.S., J.N. Medical College & Hospital appreciated the effort of the department for organising this symposium and emphasized the importance of such activities and how beneficial it can be especially for new residents of the Faculty of Medicine.
Dr. I. K. Dhammi, Associate Editor, Indian Journal of Orthopaedics delivered a lecture on "Why to publish".
Prof. Ramesh K. Sen, Department of Orthopaedics, PGI Chandigarh, briefly discussed about different types of research studies and the method to carry out these studies.
Dr. Shah Alam Khan, Associate Professor, Department of Orhtopaedics, AIIMS, New Delhi, discussed in detail the basic statistics involved in research that one should know. He also gave an overview of how to write and what points should be kept in mind while writing a good case report. He also discussed various ethical issues related to research and publication. An interactive session was also organized at the end of the programme.
Dr. Sohail Ahmad, Assistant Professor and Organising Secretary of the symposium presented vote of thanks.
